On Thursday, October 24, 2024, Mrs. Hacker our school counselor will be going into our Health Enhancement I Boys and Girls classes to teach a lesson on suicide prevention. The curriculum that is being used is Signs of Suicide, an evidence based program that helps students identify the signs of depression and suicide in themselves and their peers. Below is a link to the curriculum materials, a flyer and a letter that was sent to all Health Enhancement I students in an email. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Below are the materials that were sent in the email.

Suicide Awareness and Prevention Robo Call | October 20, 2024

Good evening, this is Megan Conrow the Superintendent at Beaverhead County High School calling to provide information on an upcoming suicide awareness and prevention unit in your child’s health enhancement I class. During the week of October 21st, our school counselor Jayci Hacker will be using the Signs of Suicide program to teach students warning signs for suicide and how to get help if they are worried about themselves or a friend. If you would like more information on what will be covered, we have posted an outline of the curriculum and the lessons that will be taught on our high school website at www.bchsmt.com. You will find this information by clicking on the Parent Notices gold button and then clicking on Signs of Suicide curriculum.

You should have also received an email providing more information about this program with an opportunity for you to opt your child out of participating if you would like to do so. A copy of the letter is also posted on our high school website. If you have any questions about these lessons, please contact the high school office during normal business hours. At the conclusion of this unit, a screener will be given to your student.  Please note, there may be contact from the school depending on how your student answers the questions.  This is all in an attempt to provide the most thorough support for our BCHS students.

Thank you and have a great evening!
