OPI Guidance

The Innovative Educational Tax Credit program came about from the 2021 Legislative Session. It allows Montanans to receive dollar-for-dollar credits on their state income taxes for donations made to public school districts. It opens every year in January, and it is first-come, first-serve across the state. Please contact District Clerk Susanne Valach for more information (406-683-2361 ext 113).

It was open in 2025 on January 15 and the full $6 million was gone in 1 hour and 13 minutes. There has been $84,750 of invalidated credits and those will open up again at 9:00 am on October 1.
